Go behind the scenes as Ontario City Council District 3 candidate D'Andre Lampkin welcomes KVCR's Rami Alarian for an in-depth interview at his Ontario home — a conversation about community, leadership, and Ontario's future.
When KVCR journalist Rami Alarian asked where I wanted to conduct our interview, the answer came to me without hesitation: my home.
Not a government building. Not a campaign office. Not a carefully staged backdrop designed to project a particular image. Just my home — the place where I live, where my family gathers, where the photographs on the shelves and the memorabilia on the walls tell the story of a life spent in service to this community long before I ever filed a single piece of campaign paperwork.
That choice was intentional, and I want to explain why.
A Setting That Reflects Who I Am
I believe that voters deserve to know more than a candidate's policy positions. They deserve to understand the experiences, the values, and the judgment that inform those positions. A living room filled with family photographs and personal mementos says something that a podium cannot.
When Rami and the KVCR team arrived, they walked into a space that reflects my actual life — the life of someone who has spent decades in Ontario as a law enforcement professional, an emergency management leader, a healthcare business owner, a nonprofit founder, and a city planning commissioner. Those aren't titles I collected for a campaign brochure. They are chapters of a story that has always been about this city and the people who call it home.

What We Talked About
Our conversation covered the full arc of my candidacy and my record. We discussed my decision to seek a seat on the Ontario City Council for District 3, and what I believe residents in our district need from their representative right now.
We talked about community engagement — the Community Conversation events I have been hosting across District 3, and why I believe that listening to residents before making decisions is not a campaign strategy but a governing philosophy. We talked about Ontario's future: responsible development, public safety resources, infrastructure, and the kinds of community services that make a city livable for families at every stage of life.
We also talked about the experiences that shaped my approach to leadership — years working alongside law enforcement, fire, and emergency services professionals; building Care Staffing Professionals and managing healthcare teams across the Inland Empire; founding the D'Andre Lampkin Foundation and investing in Ontario's young people through scholarships and mentorship; and serving on the Ontario Planning Commission, where I reviewed the development applications that are reshaping this city's landscape.

Real Leadership Shows Up Before Election Season
The central message of this campaign has always been straightforward: real leadership shows up long before election season.
I did not begin serving Ontario when I decided to run for City Council. I have been here — at community events, at planning hearings, at scholarship ceremonies, at neighborhood walks, at emergency response briefings — for years. The KVCR interview gave me an opportunity to share that record directly with residents who may be learning about my candidacy for the first time.
I am grateful to Rami Alarian and the entire KVCR team for taking the time to sit down with me and for helping Ontario residents learn more about the candidates seeking to represent them. KVCR's commitment to covering local elections is a genuine service to our community, and I want to be clear: their decision to conduct this interview reflects their dedication to informing voters, not an endorsement of my campaign or my positions.
Watch for the Interview Release
The interview is expected to be released in approximately two weeks, subject to KVCR's publication schedule. I will share the link across the campaign's social media accounts and here on the website as soon as it becomes available.
In the meantime, I invite you to learn more about my record and my vision for Ontario at lampkinforontario.org and to join us at an upcoming Community Conversation event.
