Award-winning higher education leader Scott West endorses D’Andre Lampkin for Ontario City Council District 3.
D’Andre Lampkin has received the endorsement of Scott West, an award-winning higher education leader and leadership and organizational development consultant from Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
West brings decades of experience working with students, emerging leaders, and community organizations. A longtime University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point admissions professional, he received the university’s inaugural Chancellor’s Medal for Commitment to Diversity in 2017. During the presentation, West was described as the “epitome of a servant leader” for his ability to build trust and support others. He also currently serves as coordinator for the Noel Compass Scholars program, which emphasizes scholarship, leadership, mentorship, professional development, and community service.
West’s connection to Lampkin and Ontario goes beyond observing the campaign from afar.
At Lampkin’s invitation, West traveled from Wisconsin to Ontario to participate in a leadership workshop sponsored by the D’Andre D. Lampkin Foundation. The experience gave him an opportunity to meet local community leaders, observe Lampkin’s leadership firsthand, and better understand the work that had already been taking place in Ontario long before the 2026 campaign began.
A Personal Endorsement
In announcing his endorsement, West shared the following message:
“I don’t live in Ontario, but I do know D’Andre Lampkin. I have had the opportunity to visit your beautiful city several times, and I’ve come to really appreciate Ontario and its people. But I’ve been even more impressed by D’Andre Lampkin and how much he genuinely cares about his community.
From our very first meeting, it was clear to me that Ontario and its people were not simply interests of his—they were priorities. His commitment to strengthening the community is one of the reasons I was happy to accept his invitation to come from Wisconsin to Ontario to teach, grow, and learn alongside local community leaders through a workshop sponsored by the D’Andre D. Lampkin Foundation.
That experience gave me the opportunity to see D’Andre at work, meet some of your local leaders, and hear firsthand the respect people have for him.
I saw a leader who brings people together. I saw dedication, commitment, focus, empathy, and a genuine desire to listen and understand.
What I appreciate most about D’Andre is the way he leads. He cares about people. He understands how government works, but he also understands that government should always be looking for ways to work better for the people it serves.
